The Challenge

 As one of the leading players on the competitive express services industry, DPEX is continually looking for ways to improve its service level, cost structure, and increase productivity. Previously DPEX had used an older Canon desk top scanner and a multi function machine to scan its consignment sheets (con-sheets). However, as the company grows rapidly, the volume of con-sheets also increased accordingly. To meet the increasingly volume of con sheets to be scanned daily, the company started to look for a faster, more productive solution for their high-volume scanning. Accurate and speedy capture of the relevant details such as the consignment details, proof of delivery, especially the bar-code of the con-sheet was crucial. DPEX narrowed down their search to Canon’s award-winning DR-9080C after the I.T. team identified it to meet the production scanning needs of DPEX. 

The Solution

Using the Canon DR9080C scanner, DPEX staff scan their daily con-sheets at 90ppm in duplex mode. The advanced on-board JPEG compression technology and new CIS line sensors of the scanner also boosted scanning speed and reduced the scanning time of over 3000 con-notes, from a day to half a day.  This accommodated DPEX’s average volume of over 66,000 con-sheets received in a month. The quality of any wrinkled documents is also improved, thanks to both the scanner sensor’s dual light configuration, and a platen roller that holds documents firmly against the sensor. Canon DR9080C scanner’s ultrasonic double feed detector also senses gap between overlapping pages to prevent documents from being fed together.
